Unusual vintage trends that I love!!

In the many hours I have spent browsing the LIFE archives, I have come across a few unusual and (unfortunately) forgotten trends of days gone by. Here are a few that I absolutely love and intent to emulate:

"Clinging" jewelery! These little pendants had an adhesive that stuck to the wearer's skin for several hours. Proof that my microdermal piercing is not anti-vintage!

Wearing several ID bracelets at a time.

...and putting a penny in your loafers for good luck!

Today was my first day with my new ears!!!! After 7 years of having lobes stretched to 7/8s of an inch, I decided to have them reconstructed. I still find stretched lobes, as well as all other body modifications very attractive...just not on myself. In my early teens I acquired a total of 26 piercings, as well as a dermal anchor. In the past year or two, I have slowly been removing piercing after piercing, and am now down to 4 plus the anchor (which I still quite like). Why couldn't my parents have been more strict???? Anyhoo, I am BEYOND excited to be able to wear earrings in a month! The stitches come out in six days and then I have to wait 3 weeks before re-piercing. Being that I am an awful shopaholic and terrible at waiting for anything, I have spent the past few months putting together a collection of bakelite earrings. Here they are in their little vintage earrings box!

These are my two favorites:

A pair of carved butterscotch bakelite hoops

And some lovely bakelite wings!

I decided it would only be logical to have a matching pair of earrings for every bakelite ring that I own. All I need now are some green ones!

That's all!
